Bountiful True North Book 4 edition by Sarina Bowen Literature Fiction eBooks

Bountiful is book 4 of the True North Series but can be read as a standalone…WAIT…TRUST ME! I’m always skeptical that if I jump in mid-series that I’ll miss something and won’t get some of the references (this is due to experience). This book truly can be read as a standalone. Zara lives in the Vermont countryside and runs her uncle’s bar. Dave is in the area for a summer vacation. What was just supposed to be a summer fling ends up being much more, both with their connection and a surprise pregnancy. They both never thought they’d see each other again, until he walks into her coffee shop two years later.

The story takes us through the journey of what’s next. Both Zara and Dave had a difficult childhood that left them both wary of love, relationships and family. They both must decide what they want and where they are going and how to raise an adorable little girl.

Zara is a strong, feisty, prickly woman. I love her! She lives her life and speaks her mind. She won’t even let her family railroad her. Life hasn’t been easy but she takes what’s she’s been dealt and rolls with it. Dave is a typical alpha male/hockey player (meaning all the good qualities), but has a heart of gold and a big soft spot for all the women in his life. This couple is perfect for each other and their story is perfect.

I love this book and I definitely love this series. Sarina Bowen is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. Her books are real and believable. They are emotional, raw, and funny. I’ve been searching the thesaurus on a word to describe her work. The best word I can find so far is meaty (yet it still doesn’t fully express my love for this book.) You get a full story. It’s not rushed. You finish the book wanting to read more about the characters, but you aren’t left with questions and big holes in the story.

Definitely check out this book and this series!

Bountiful True North Book 4 edition by Sarina Bowen Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Ahh I missed Vermont and Shipleys, the Bruisers too. Here of Sarina's two worlds meet. Once I found out it was actually Beringer (Dave) who is the hero and I was excited. Zara we've known little of from previous books and I've been wanting to know more about both. I'm glad to see this side of Dave humor and bossiness mixed, the inner side we didn't see. The spark was there while it was uncertain it grew into

So their arrangement fling or tryst as you will, left something behind. We get to see the before and after. The news of a baby is a shock to Dave he didn't want a kid, Zara had two years to deal and of course fending of questions. The growth of Zara from what we saw in other books to here, grace, acceptance and doing her beat in that moment. She had a lot of prickly and guarded way about her mostly self preservation and just how she toughened up. I think it's more realistic that they didn't settle into comfy family mode right away, lot of missteps and awkward moments. Then somewhat calming down and getting through all that. I really liked them together though. That pull to one another is also hard to resist.

It paced well and you can see how much their relationship developed which I liked. Zara's vulnerability and Dave's tough past all played a role in how it went along. Seeing Dave slowly get into his dad role was sweet and yeah it wasn't smooth, a learning curve and all that. Having a kid complicates that whole getting back together and what with the distance too. They gots tons of chemistry and attraction but all their tough childhoods they need to decide of they're really in this for the long haul.

I seriously adore the setting for True North. Grumpy Griff is here too and Audrey. I hope the other Rossi's or Bess and Kieran get a book. Wishful thinking but yeah. Bountiful is a heartwarming and wonderful story of appreciating family and blessings. I wished there was an epilogue cause I need more of this crew. Sarina Bowen has truly made Vermont come alive.
In Bountiful, Zara finally comes face to face with the man who left her pregnant. Readers of the True North series will remember Zara as the bartender and Griff' s bitter ex lover in Bittersweet, the first book. Zara became pregnant later on by a mystery man and she refused to reveal his identity. The book begins with the back story of how Zara met a Brooklyn Bruiser hockey player, had a brief hot fling with him which left her knocked up unbeknownst to him.
Secret baby trope is one of my weaknesses and it is so well done here. Zara wanted a no strings attached fling with the handsome red haired stranger that was just passing through. No strings meant no personal details which meant that when Zara found herself knocked up she had no idea where to begin to look for the father. Dave Beringer, hockey player for the Brooklyn Bruisers, never forgot the sexy dark eyed bartender from Vermont and two years go by before he's able to go looking for her. What he finds ties him up in knots and turns his life upside down. His harrowing childhood taught him to give serious relationships a wide berth so he avoids entanglements and responsibilities as a matter of course. But, can he resist the insane attraction he feels for his prickly bartender? Can he conquer his fears to become the father his baby deserves and the man Zara needs? Oh, yes he can and I loved every minute of reading about Dave bumbling through his emotional constipation to conquer his fears and fall in love.
One of the things I love about this series, and all of Sarina Bowen' s books, is how real they are. The characters, the setting, the circumstances and situations all ring true to life because they are so relatable. Zara struggling with childcare and starting a small business, Dave struggling with his feelings about fatherhood and the possible end of his hockey career and what comes after, are all issues that are familiar to most of us. I loved, loved Dave. He was a beta hero with some latent Alpha tendencies in the bedroom (my favorite kind) , and while he was adorably clueless because hello he's a dude, he always made up for it in the sweetest , sexiest ways. I also loved how Dave didn't immediately fall head over heels for his baby and instead struggled with acknowledging that this little person was a part of him. His gradual acceptance was realistic and so satisfying in the end.
I loved seeing the characters of the previous books, the Vermont setting which never fails to make me want to move there, and the little clues of the other characters that may be getting their stories next (Kieran and Roderick, I have a feeling about them). But most of all I adored Dave and Zara and their sweet, sexy love story. There were some things that affected the story for me somewhat but it's more personal preferences than actual fault with the story (overused words, endearments that squick me out) In the end though I found this book to be close to perfect. This is a character driven, low angst sexy love story and I can't wait for the next book. Highly recommend it.
