This was a really good book. Estere Academy is a school that angels, demons, and mortals go to school together. The headmistress was killed and the only suspect is mortal Katerina Lyrille. Katerine ran away from the school, not because she is guilty but to prove her innocence. She finally finds the witch that she was looking for but now she has to go back to the school she ran away from to find something that will lead to the true murderer. The witch she met with gave her a prophecy that will lead her to the Mortal Sword. There are three objects that are supposed to make when put together make someone have all the power in the world. One is for a mortal, another for an angel, and finally the last for a demon. She's brought back to school by a SRECON (Supernatural Reconnaissance) Triad with one mortal, one angel, and one demon. The mortal, Loire, just comes off the wrong way at first but in time he seems to be a really great guy. Katerina's best friends are an angel named Annaliese but goes by Anna and a demon named Mishelin who goes by Misha.

This was a really great story that reminded me a little of the Convenant series by Jennifer Armentrout. But this book stood on its own. Definitely worth reading and I'm just going to have to wait for the next book in the series.

I'm surprised there's not more reviews. I think this book was awesome! I hated the end though, especially since book 2 isn't even out yet. Maybe I should start waiting to read a series once it's complete, because I hate waiting! Anyways I definitely recommend this book!
I really enjoyed this story. Supernatural humans with angels and demons (that weren't all evil). No vampires or werewolves in this book, unlike most supernatural fantasy out there right now -refreshing. Love, drama, & mystery made it hard to put down. I only wish that I had the rest of the series ready to read! So Komal, please keep writing!!
I've been waiting for this book for THREE years! Komal teased me with the first chapter when we first met and finally let me read the rest this month. It was totally worth the wait! I love everything about this storyline and can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Fans of Mead's Vampire Academy and Armentrout's Covenant series will love Runaway Mortal.
Runaway Mortal is what I look for in a good Paranormal romance. Komal is a fabulous writer and I was entranced from page 1! It reminds me of Vampire Academy and my own Legend of the Archangel series. If you're looking for something to read after Vampire Academy that doesn't involve vampires, look no further than Runaway Mortal!
So i found my way to this little jewel and i got no sleep, kept reading every chance i got and then it was over ( Cry.. I didn't check when it was published, so i guess now i have to wait waaay to long for the second book. Another one to the list of books to look for ;)

Fans of Jennifer L. Armentrout's Covenant and Richelle Meads Vampire Academy - will love this! ( And yes, there is similarities, but it is NOT a ripoff! It is original work! )

This is one of those "if you like this, then you'll like this books. I was very pleasantly surprised to find this very hard to put down. The author did a good job not making it to obvious who the bad guy was..there was comedy suspense mystery and a love story, which I love in the books I read. I'll read it again for sure, too bad the sequel won't be out till winter of 2015.
Oh my god, I love this book. It has everything - an awesome, snarky heroine, supernatural elements that are really well thought-out, a murder mystery, a crazy old witch, a hot lead male (who I'm a *little* bit in love with), and plenty of material that has me hooked and waiting eagerly for the next in the series.

The wait might just kill me.

While I was reading the climax of the story (on a lunch break at work, so I was using my phone rather than my ), my phone battery began to die - 5%, 4%, 3, 2, 1...

I actually screamed aloud in the break room (probably kind of scaring my co-workers) when my phone shut down and I had to wait HOURS until I could go home and keep reading. It probably would have been funny if it wasn't so torturous.

Rather than talk too much about the plot of the book (you can read that in the blurb), I'm just going to tell you that you NEED to read it. Now. OK? Good.
